Terms of service
Last updated: September 4, 2026
These terms govern your use of WeBudget. They're written in plain English on purpose. If something is unclear, email us and we'll explain. Section 3 covers the subscription, including how the free trial converts and how to cancel — read that one even if you skip the rest.
1. Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using WeBudget (the "App") you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the App. The App is published by BHY Technologies ("we", "us").
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
3. Your account
You do not need an account to use WeBudget. The ledger, charts, budgets, local backup, export and import all work without one. An account is required only for a WeBudget Plus membership and for cloud backup.
You can create one with a code emailed to you, with Google, or with Apple. You are responsible for keeping access to the email address or provider account you sign in with, and for the activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13 in any case.
4. Subscription & free trial
WeBudget Plus is an auto-renewing subscription offered in two lengths: monthly (one month per period) and yearly (twelve months per period). It adds automatic capture of transactions and removes advertising. Everything else — manual entry, unlimited transactions, every chart, every budget, local backup, export, import and cloud backup — remains free.
Price is shown in the App and on your store's product page before you confirm, in your local currency, including applicable taxes. Prices vary by country and may change; we will not change the price of a period you have already paid for, and any increase applies only from the next renewal after you are notified as your store requires.
Free trial. Each plan may begin with a free trial of the length shown at purchase. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid subscription and the first period is charged to your store account. If a trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple or Google, not by us — we never see your card details.
5. Cancellation & refunds
Cancel any time in your store account. On iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your membership stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, since they took the payment. Where consumer law in your country gives you a right of withdrawal or a refund beyond those policies, that right applies. Write to us either way and we will help you pursue it.
If your membership lapses, nothing you have already recorded is taken away. The app returns to the free tier: your ledger, charts, budgets, local backup, export and cloud backup keep working — cloud backup is available to any signed-in account, free or paid, as section 7 sets out — automatic capture stops, and ads return.
6. Your data
The App keeps your spending and budgeting data on your device. Our processing of any information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.
You may export a JSON backup at any time from the App via your device's share sheet, and you may delete your data at any time from the App. Uninstalling removes all on-device data. If you created an account, you can delete it and everything attached to it from inside the App or from our account & data deletion page.
7. Cloud backup
Cloud backup is optional and available to any signed-in account, free or paid. A copy of your records is sent to our servers over TLS and stored encrypted at rest. It is not end-to-end encrypted: our systems can read it, which is what lets us restore it for you and support your account. Our privacy policy sets out who may access it and what is logged when they do.
Cloud backup is a convenience, not a guarantee, and we are not liable for data you cannot recover. Keep your own local export as well — the App writes one from Settings → Data → Backup, free and unlimited. You may delete the cloud copy at any time without affecting what is on your device.
Reasonable storage limits may apply to the cloud copy. We will tell you in the App before any limit affects you.
8. Advertising
The free tier is supported by advertising, served by Google AdMob and its mediation partners, Meta Audience Network and Liftoff. Ads never appear inside your transactions, your balances or the review queue, and never on the add-transaction, account, security or sync screens. No transaction, amount, merchant, balance, account or budget is ever used to target an ad.
You can remove ads for as long as your membership lasts by subscribing to WeBudget Plus.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App to commit, facilitate, or conceal a crime.
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or circumvent the security of the App or any associated systems, including our servers.
- Use the App in a way that infringes the rights of others or violates applicable law.
- Share an account, or resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App without prior written permission.
- Attempt to obtain a membership without paying for it, or to interfere with advertising the free tier depends on.
10. Third-party services
The App interacts with third-party services: your device's operating system, your bank's notification system, Apple and Google for sign-in and payment, Google AdMob and its mediation partners (Meta Audience Network, Liftoff) for advertising, and your chosen destination for a local backup. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of those services, and your use of them is governed by their terms.
Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms and have no obligation to provide support for the App. Where the App is obtained from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies in addition to these Terms, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary entitled to enforce them against you.
11. Disclaimer
WeBudget is a budgeting tool, not financial advice, accounting software, or a substitute for professional advice. We make no guarantee that parsed transactions are complete or accurate — banks and payment apps change their notification formats, and parsing is inherently best-effort. You are responsible for verifying your records.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", to the maximum extent permitted by law, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, or data, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of or in connection with your use of the App. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 20 — whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or anything that cannot be limited by law.
13. Termination
You can stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it, and delete your account at any time from the App or from our deletion page. We may suspend or terminate access to the App or specific features if you violate these Terms or applicable law, or if continuing to provide them becomes commercially or technically infeasible — in which case we will give reasonable notice and refund any period you have paid for and not received. On termination, provisions that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law) will survive.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date above will change, and material changes will be notified in the App before they take effect. If you do not accept a change, stop using the App and cancel any subscription before the change takes effect; continuing to use the App afterwards means you accept the new Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings before your local courts. We do not name a jurisdiction of our own, because for a consumer subscription sold through Apple and Google the mandatory consumer-protection law where you live applies whatever a clause like this says — naming somewhere else would change nothing except to suggest you had given something up.
