About

We built the app
we wanted to use.

WeBudget started with a small annoyance. Every time we paid for something, two notifications appeared: one from the card, one from the bank. And every time, we'd reopen our budgeting app to type the same amount in by hand.

It seemed almost rude. The information was already on the screen. Why was the app pretending it wasn't?

So we built one that didn't. WeBudget reads those alerts directly and turns them into clean entries you can approve in a sweep. The parsing happens on your phone, and the app is complete without an account and without a connection. A cloud copy is there if you want one, and absent if you don't.

We're also tired of finance apps that fire a red alert at 80% of a budget, or gamify saving like it's Duolingo. And we're wary of subscription creep, which is why the free tier here is a complete expense tracker rather than a trial: manual entry, unlimited transactions, every chart, every budget, local backup, export, import and cloud backup. The paywall sits in front of convenience — the app doing the typing — never in front of your own data.

If you've ever closed a finance app because it stressed you out, this one is for you.

Principles

The rules we won't break.

On-device, by default

Your ledger is created, parsed and analysed on your phone, and every screen works with no connection. No aggregator, no bank logins handed over.

Nothing leaves unless you ask

The app is complete offline and without an account, so by default your spending exists in one place: your phone. A cloud copy exists only if you turn it on, it is encrypted in transit and at rest, and deleting it does not touch what is on your device.

The paywall never sits in front of your data

Manual entry, every chart, every budget, local backup, export, import and cloud backup are free forever. What you pay for is convenience — the app doing the typing.

Ads stay out of the ledger

The free tier carries ads, and where they may appear is enforced rather than intended: never in a transaction, a balance or the review queue, and never targeted on your financial data.

Calm interfaces over loud ones

No red alarms, no streak meters, no shame screens. Budgeting is hard enough — the tool shouldn't add to it.

Open exports, always

Your data is yours. A JSON backup is one tap to the share sheet — save it to any cloud, email it to yourself, whatever you want.

Honest copy

We won't hide platform differences, oversell what the parser can do, or invent fake reviews. The app is good enough to describe truthfully.

Stay in touch

Hello, and welcome.

We read every email. Feature ideas, parser bugs, design feedback, or just a hello — all of it lands in a real inbox.
